(NewsNation) — President Trump is calling on NBC to fire late-night host Seth Meyers, in his latest round of clashes with comedians.
Trump posted on Saturday that Meyers is suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
“He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his “show” is a Ratings DISASTER,” Trump wrote. “Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr reposted Trump’s comments to X less than an hour after the initial post.
Trump has previously criticized Meyers and his show, “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” which has been on NBC since February 2014 and airs at 12:34 a.m. ET. On Nov.1, Trump said he watched Meyers show for the first time and years and found him to be the “least talented person to “perform” live in the history of television.”
Newsweek reports that Meyers has often joked at the president’s expense. Some of Meyers’ jokes have been directed towards Trump’s 50-year mortgage proposal and handling of the Jeffery Epstein files.
Trump’s call for NBC to fire Meyers comes less than two months after ABC, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company removed late-night host Jimmy Kimmel from air, after comments he made about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and Trump’s response to questions about it. Trump applauded the move, adding that Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers would be next. Kimmel’s removal was met with backlash before the network returned him to air about a week later after talks with the comedian.
Neither Meyers or NBC have responded to Trump’s comments as of Sunday morning.
