Child's birthday party turns into bloodbath as gunmen shoot 10 people leaving one guest dead and another fighting for his life

Attackers fired at least two semiautomatic weapons on Saturday at the basketball courts on Dexter and Webb around 8.30pm, Assistant Detroit Police Chief Steve Dolunt said.

Attackers fired at least two semiautomatic weapons on Saturday around 8.30pm during party on Detroit's west side, police said. A 20-year-old man, who has not been identified, was killed and police said he could have been intended target. A 46-year-old man remains in hospital where he is in critical condition. Eight others were injured including five men and three women who have non-life threatening injuries. The semiautomatic weapons have not been recovered following incident.


Authorities are investing a deadly shooting that occurred during a child's birthday party on Detroit's west side which left one man dead and nine others injured with one fighting for his life. The 20-year-old man who was killed, and who police said could have been an intended target in the shooting, is not being identified while his relatives are being informed.   
A 46-year-old man remains in hospital where he is in critical condition. 
Eight others were injured including five men and three women who have non-life threatening injuries, WXYZ reported. 

The victims range in age from 21 to 46, Dolunt said. Police said the shooting happened at a neighborhood party that included a barbecue attended by families with some small children in strollers and others playing in a bouncy house. Around 400 people were gathered for the event.
'Through the grace of God no children were shot,' Dolunt said.
Scenes from the incident were described as chaotic by those who were present and said they ran for cover.
'I was in tears, my kids was out here,' one woman said. 'It's real scary that black people want to kill each other over nonsense.'
