Democracy is flawed but better than Tyranny
Mr. President, instead of forcing people out of their land to rebuild it without them, why don't you first try something that can be accepted by almost everybody and offer the same incentives you offer today for the benefit of these people? It is called a plebiscite or election. If the Palestinians in Gaza vote again in favor of Hamas instead of voting for a better life in Grand Riviera as you imagine it Mr. Trump, then you will know for sure that your plan will never succeed no matter what kind of means you use to enforce it.
But the problem with you Mr. Trump is that you do not like elections, period. You never accepted your electoral defeat in 2020 and attempted to change the result with a staged coup d'etat. The other problem is that you do not prefer the two-state solution that the Democrats push forward and instead prefer to have Israel control the Strip militarily. Maybe if you included a two-state solution in your offer to the Palestinians instead of deportation, some of them in the Gaza Strip would reconsider voting for your plan. Ever thought of that?
Now, personally, I never liked Islamist militants myself, the same way as I never liked Christian militants of your Southern United States, the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt, Sissi the Dictator, any dictator, or Israeli settlers. I believe in God, but I do not fancy advertising my belief, making a profit from it, or using it as a political weapon. Hamas I do not like either, same as regimes like Erdogan's in Turkey or the mullahs of Iran, but if the Palestinians, the Turks, or the Iranians like them, and vote them to power it's fine with me as long as they do not affect my life. This is how Democracy works in my mind.
The problem with Hamas is that they do not water their wine when it comes to Israel likewise Israeli extremists when it comes to Hamas. This is the main reason regimes like Netanyahu remain in power making the Middle East affair insoluble. We all know that it is the two extreme parties, Hamas and Netanyahu that drive events in the Middle East to a dead end all these decades. We also know that American Hegemony and its desire to control the Arab World's oil reserves - as well as the natural gas reserves of Gaza - have driven all developments in the area since the end of the Second World War. I personally believe that both people should live there peacefully. Ever thought Mr. Trump, that if all those former factors ceased to exist, a solution would be much easier to achieve? I guess not because you are a friend of Hegemony, a friend of Bibi's, and a supporter of his regime. You also share the same lust for authority and the same fate. If you are ousted from power, you may end up in jail.
So we end up with the same result. A Middle Eastern affair with a dead end and you proposing "wonderful" ideas that sound reasonable only to you and leave everybody else flabbergasted.
Under these circumstances, you should pay attention to the message the United Nations sent you on Wednesday insisting that deporting people from occupied territory is strictly prohibited. United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, made this statement following your shock proposal for the United States to take over Gaza and resettle its people. Türk stressed that international law is unequivocal. “The right to self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law and must be protected by all states, as the International Court of Justice recently reaffirmed. “Any forcible transfer or deportation of people from occupied territory is strictly prohibited,” he said.
It would also be fairer to all of us who have to listen to your ranting day in and day out to prepare your speeches beforehand and coordinate them with your staff so they, Rubio and Leavitt, do not appear the next day after your rants and void everything you said trying to make sense out of it.
So, think about it. Push for elections, give incentives, see the result, and then make up your mind. Democracy is flawed, but it is always better than tyranny. Even a businessman like yourself can agree with that. Don't you, Mr Trump?
