‘Not accurate’ says Ford of Reuters report about Honda moving to U.S.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has publicly stated that a media report regarding Honda's potential shift of car production from Canada to the United States is "not accurate."

After speaking with the president of Honda Canada, he mentioned that Honda would release a statement to clarify the situation. Ford indicated that Honda is currently operating at full capacity in the U.S. and is planning a response to the report, which has raised concerns about possible job losses in Canada due to trade tensions.

Ford reassured that efforts will be made to keep Honda's operations in Canada and protect jobs in the region. The original report by Nikkei suggested that Honda was contemplating moving some production to the U.S. to meet local manufacturing targets, but it remains unverified by Global News.

At the same time, Federal Liberal Mark Carney has commented on the challenges facing the Canadian automotive sector amidst U.S. tariffs, implying that the integration of North America's auto manufacturing is at risk. He noted ongoing discussions with industry executives to address the issues.
