Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) has accused the Trump administration of engaging in corrupt financial arrangements with Russian President Vladimir Putin to enrich Donald Trump’s family and campaign donors. Speaking at a midterm campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia, Ossoff claimed that top administration envoys are using their public positions to broker a multi-billion-dollar energy deal with the Kremlin.According to Ossoff, Trump’s inner circle—specifically U.S. Special Envoy for Peace Jared Kushner and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff—is actively negotiating with Putin to sell billions of dollars worth of Russian oil fields, refineries, and gas stations. Ossoff alleged that the deal is being structured so that the U.S. government takes a 15% stake while the properties are funneled to the "first family's cronies"—individuals who have reportedly poured hundreds of millions of dollars into Trump family businesses and campaign funds.
Ossoff highlighted several specific foreign business arrangements to back his corruption allegations:
• The Russian Oil Deal: Kushner and Witkoff are allegedly brokering the sale of Russian energy assets directly to prominent Trump campaign donors and business associates.
• Foreign Crypto & Real Estate Deals: Ossoff pointed to Emirati spy chief Sheikh Tahnoun, who allegedly paid $500 million to a Trump-linked crypto business, and the Alkayat brothers from Syria, who are reportedly financing a multi-billion-dollar resort project in Albania for Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
• The Kazakhstan Mining Deal: Ossoff also alleged that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump secured financial stakes in an American company pursuing tungsten mining rights in Kazakhstan just days before the country awarded them the contract—followed shortly by a $1.6 billion allocation of U.S. taxpayer funds to back the project.
These explosive claims come amidst heavy scrutiny over President Trump's broader foreign policy, including a highly controversial and legally questioned deal to import millions of tons of Russian diesel to lower domestic fuel costs. Ossoff warned that those involved in these backroom negotiations will eventually be forced to testify under oath before Congressional investigators.
