Cynical blackmail by Trump on Zelensky who did not sign the mineral concession

High tones and phrases like "you make a deal or you're out" and "you're playing with a third world war." The meeting ended prematurely, with Trump accusing Zelensky of not being ready for peace.

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House is likely unprecedented.

Trump, with Vice President Jay D. Vance's assistance, treated Zelensky in a humiliating and insulting manner, essentially giving him an ultimatum regarding the provision of Ukrainian metals and rare earths to the US in front of reporters.

"Either you make a deal or you're out." "You're playing with a Third World War." "You should be grateful." "Your statements were very disrespectful." These are some of the phrases that Trump and Vance used to address Zelensky, making what can be described as cynical blackmail against an ally of the United States.

The blackmail involves the signing of a colonialist agreement regarding the assignment of Ukraine's mineral wealth. In exchange, the agreement aims to provide re-legitimization in the eyes of the superpower. Current indications suggest that Trump does not intend to grant Zelensky the security guarantees he seeks or the substantial military aid he is requesting.

Trump also insists that "America will get back all the money it spent" on the war in Ukraine.

However, the deal collapsed because the Ukrainian president did not sign it, leading to a premature end to the meeting. "President Zelensky is not ready for peace," Trump stated after the meeting.

"I have decided that President Zelensky is not ready for peace as long as America is involved because he thinks our participation gives him a significant advantage in the negotiations. I am not seeking an advantage; I want peace. He has disrespected the United States in the revered Oval Office. He can return when he is genuinely ready for peace," Trump wrote in his post.

However, Zelensky thanked the US and Trump after the meeting, in a post on X.

"Thank you, America, for your support and for this visit. I would like to extend my gratitude to the President, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace, and we are actively working towards it," said the Ukrainian president.

→A reminder: a few days ago Trump launched a verbal attack against Zelensky, calling him a "dictator" among other things.
