Venezuela is on edge yet again as President Trump has ordered a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers, raising fears of another dramatic seizure like that of a previous oil tanker.

According to three U.S. officials, the Coast Guard is currently operating off the coast of Venezuela in international waters, targeting a second sanctioned vessel. However, details regarding the ship’s name and the precise location of the operation remain undisclosed.

This operation marks the second time the U.S. has seized a sanctioned vessel. On December 10, an elite tactical operations team from the Coast Guard, supported by U.S. Navy helicopters, successfully boarded and took control of The Skipper, an oil tanker linked to illicit operations in Venezuela.

Reuters first reported this ongoing operation as the Coast Guard continues its crackdown on sanctioned vessels. The implications of Trump’s threatened blockade raise questions about potential impacts on gas prices.
