After their meeting in Mar-a-Lago, Trump and Zelensky held a brief press conference to discuss the details of their talks. They both expressed satisfaction with the meeting, describing it as constructive and highlighting significant progress made toward security guarantees for Ukraine. Trump noted that approximately 95% of the issues had been discussed, while Zelensky indicated nearly 100% agreement on security guarantees.

Yet, when asked about the situation in Donbas, Zelensky gave a somewhat ambiguous answer, mentioning they had reviewed a 20-point plan, but noted that one or two points might be resolved through a referendum. Trump echoed this perspective, suggesting that some issues could be settled through either parliamentary approval or a referendum, emphasizing that 91% of Ukrainian citizens want an end to the conflict.

On the topic of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Trump reassured that it was ready to operate immediately, stating there were no issues regarding its functionality. He also mentioned a phone call with Putin in which the Russian leader expressed interest in expediting solutions to the Ukrainian crisis.

Trump remarked that the U.S. could work with Russia, criticizing Democrats for undermining potential progress. He expressed a desire for collaboration with European partners, acknowledging their support in addressing the Ukrainian situation. Furthermore, he described Putin as "generous" and highlighted his intent for Ukraine to succeed.

When questioned about the potential referendum and the emigration of people, Zelensky clarified that it would be conducted similarly to regular elections and emphasized the need for adequate infrastructure to facilitate the process, indicating that considerable work remains before a referendum can be organized.
