A projectile struck a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Sunday, a day after a missile attack on the same terminal killed at least 12 people and wounded approximately 300, according to the Associated Press, citing the Saudi-led coalition fighting Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Saudi authorities reported injuries in Sunday's attack on the airport complex serving domestic flights. The airport remained closed.

India's embassy in Saudi Arabia said one of its citizens died Sunday from injuries sustained in Saturday's attack, raising the reported death toll to 13.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack and other strikes. Sunday's strike followed a separate report by the Houthis that Sanaa's airport, in Yemen's rebel-held capital, had been hit again. The group blamed Saudi Arabia.

The escalation threatens to widen the conflict and increase U.S. military involvement. President Donald Trump has said he is considering joining the fight against the Houthis. The White House had issued no immediate comment as of Sunday morning.

The attacks also raise concerns over regional aviation, civilian safety and global energy supplies. Commercial shipping through alternative routes to the Strait of Hormuz, already threatened by the wider war with Iran, faces additional uncertainty.

Saturday's attack was reported to be the deadliest in a Gulf Arab nation since the Iran war began.
