"It was an unsuccessful attempt," says Kirill Budanov, head of the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. Budanof claimed that Caucasians tried to kill him.

According to the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainska Pravda, cited by the Greek website Pandora's Box, on Monday (23.05.2022) the head of the Ukrainian secret services, Kirillo Budanov, revealed that an assassination attempt was made on Putin about two months ago, in March.

Kirill Budanov said that the attempt to assassinate the Russian President was made after the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022.

"There was an assassination attempt on Putin. "He was attacked, it is said, by people from the Caucasus, not long ago," Budanov said, according to the newspaper.

"This is non-public information. It was an unsuccessful attempt, but it really happened. It was about two months ago. I repeat, this attempt was unsuccessful. "There was no publicity about this event, but it happened," Budanov said.

Rumors of the 69-year-old president's ill health have been raging for years. Last month, Proekt, an independent Russian media outlet specializing in investigative journalism and excluded from the Kremlin, reported that Putin had visited a thyroid cancer specialist 35 times in four years.
